🚨 pleased to share a new preprint made possible through a fantastic collaboration with the Skala & Palecek labs! can medium composition impact the behavior of hPSC-derived cardiomyocytes? Andy & Aaron co-led efforts to tackle this question w/HPLM! tinyurl.com/ux2arjw8
Human Plasma-Like Medium Promotes Maturation of Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes
Maturing human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hPSC-CMs) in vitro is critical for advancing drug discovery and cardiotoxicity screening applications of these cells. However, the metaboli...

I'm delighted to be hosting the Cambridge University Endocrinology Society's annual conference this Friday, entitled: 'From Bench to Bedside (and back again)'.

We're really fortunate to have such an exciting line up of speakers, integrating across a wide range of career stages and fields.
A set of four hand-drawn anatomical illustrations, each framed in a square with different background colors. The top left shows the pancreas with surrounding blood vessels and the gallbladder. The top right features the thyroid gland and larynx. The bottom left illustrates the kidneys, adrenal glands, and major blood vessels. The bottom right displays a cross-section of the human brain with detailed internal structures. A conference programme listing sessions, speakers, and topics related to endocrinology, metabolism, and medical innovation. The schedule includes a keynote on incretins, sessions on clinical translation, fundamental science, and innovation, with discussions on genes, metabolic monitoring, parental plasticity, diabetes management, and obesity drug development. The day concludes with prizes and closing remarks.

".. most in vitro studies rely on culture protocols that
create metabolic environments far removed from conditions that cells may face in the body" 👇 Great piece!

Pleased to share our @cp-cellmetabolism.bsky.social forum on why we think standard cell culture practices deserve more consideration. How we culture cells has implications for cell metabolism & beyond! With

excited to share a new preprint from our lab! led by the outstanding (& newly minted PhD) @thebiokimist.bsky.social we first uncover a basis for conditional HK2 essentiality in HPLM - leveraging this dependence then leads us to distinct rationale underlying why the Warburg Effect is beneficial!
