This is my favourite Langston Hughes poem. He says so much in 4 lines, and the weight of the word 'perhaps' in the last line does not go unnoticed.

Posting on the 1955th day since George Floyd was murdered. Little has changed, things are probably worse

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

-Robert Frost, "Fire and Ice"

"I am a descendent of stillness
and sailors still in motion,
a brew of saltpeter and blackbird song."

Another one of my poems in the Alchemy and Miracles #poetryanthology 🌸🪻🌻🏵️
A photo of a page in the Alchemy and Miracles poetry anthology in front of a bookshelf with 2 small canvas paintings of a field in day and night. The poem is titled Full Bloom by Rita Taste and reads:

if only
we could live
like the wildflowers,
blooms of all sizes and colors
sharing the soil
of one field

“September approaching…I feel I owe myself a brief respite of leisure and no rushing around. I can’t face the dead reality. I want rainy days, lanterns and a hundred moons twining in dark leaves, music spilling out and echoing yet inside my head.”

Poetry's strength lies in its imaginative language, which empowers readers to step into different shoes, fostering both creative thought and a more expansive understanding of the world.
