Included within this legislation was the Communications Decency Act and the now-notorious Section 230. What was originally passed with the goal of helping the emerging Internet industry as our nation approached a new century has since been interpreted to shield big tech companies from accountability for an ever-expanding variety of online harms. As we approach the 30-year anniversary of Section 230, we must pause and reflect on where this law has led us as a nation and how it has affected the American people. Because of Section 230, America's children are being sexually groomed and extorted online; predators are creating and distributing Al-generated deepfake pornography; drug traffickers are selling fentanyl-laced pills to teenagers; young people's anxieties, stresses, and body image issues are exploited; and terrorist organizations and foreign governments are targeting vulnerable individuals for recrutment and exploitation. And to make matters worse, Section 230 prevents these victims and their families from ever having their day in court. Practically speaking, there is no regulatory agency overseeing social media that could provide meaningful relief to abused consumers. The combination of having the courthouse door locked and no real regulatory body to protect consumers is harmful to America and it must come to an end. The time for accountability is now. Few issues have generated more bipartisan consensus in this body than confronting the Section 230 problem. Heads up: 'Sunset To Reform Section 230 Act'(H.R. 6746) has been introduced in the house. its sole goal is to repeal section 230

Its only introduced, so we dont yet know how actually threatening it is, but keep this in mind and advocate for sec 230 to your reps

They are saying this in favor of hurting trans children while putting in exemptions specifically to harm intersex children.

They say it loudly, with their full chest, in the text of their bill: They want to mutilate intersex children.

It’s for cruelty.
(2) EXEMPTION.—Genital or bodily mutilation or chemical castration is not a violation of this section if such genital or bodily mutilation or chemical castration is conducted with respect to any of the following individuals: “(A) An individual with both ovarian and testicular tissue. “(B) An individual with respect to whom a physician has determined through genetic or biochemical testing that the individual does not have normal sex chromosome structure, sex steroid hormone production, or sex steroid hormone action. “(C) An individual experiencing infection, disease, injury, or disorder caused or exacerbated by a previous genital or bodily mutilation procedure or chemical castration. “(D) An individual suffering from a physical disorder, physical injury, or physical illness that would, as certified by a physician, place the individual in imminent danger of impairment of a major bodily function unless the procedure is performed. “(E) An individual diagnosed with precocious puberty, to the extent such genital or bodily mutilation or chemical castration is for the purpose of normalizing puberty.

Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, and Vicente Gonzalez joined Republicans in voting to criminalize trans health care.

The bill passed only 216 to 214.

4 Republicans voted no. If they did too, it would have failed.

BREAKING: The House of Representatives passed a bill that would criminalize gender-affirming care for transgender youth under 18 and put doctors in prison for providing this care.

This bill is an unjustifiable threat to the well-being of trans youth and their families. The Senate must reject it.
