Yesterday it took my kid 90 minutes to travel 7km with OCTranspo.

Her scheduled bus didn’t show. The next bus didn’t show. She got the next next bus. 30 minutes down.

Then 60 minutes to travel 7km through Ottawa’s transit-hostile streets.

Late for her job. So the trip cost her close to $20.

I use one of the following phrases at least weekly:

“total gong show” (a mess)

“f**king gong show” (a terrible mess caused by idiots)

“beautiful/beauty gong show” (a lovable mess)

The Ford government has gone from replacing an effective system (automated speed cameras) to an ineffective system (big signs) to an ineffective and wasteful system (signs that can’t be installed).

I want my taxes back.

In retrospect, my surprise at the depth and pervasiveness of the moral cowardice of many people in positions of power was utterly naive.

I should have expected it because I’d seen signs of it in most organizations I’d worked for.

Thinking about pitching a series of Reith Lectures on the Streisand Effect.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

“This is X in 2025: Potentially fake accounts crying at other potentially fake accounts that they aren’t real, all while refusing to acknowledge that they themselves aren’t who they say they are—a Russian nesting doll of bullshit.”
I wrote about the fake account blowup on X this weekend. A genuine post-truth nightmare and proof that these companies have polluted their platforms so thoroughly and traded reality for profit that they've undermined the very idea of what the internet is supposed to be.
