Venezuela’s armed forces said 24 of their service members were killed in Saturday’s U.S. attacks that led to Maduro’s abduction, according to a statement on the military’s Instagram. Venezuelan authorities have not released an official count of civilian casualties yet. Cuba earlier said 32 members of its armed forces and Interior Ministry security personnel deployed in Caracas were killed in the same operation. Havana published the names and ages of the dead, who ranged from 26 to 67 years old and included two colonels and one lieutenant colonel. Many of the Cuban personnel are said to have been part of Maduro’s security detail, which Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López said was almost completely wiped out during the assault.

Witnesses said Israeli troops smashed the main gate, entered multiple university buildings, and fired tear gas, stun grenades, and live ammunition as students fled across campus.
