Fifty-nine, I said FIFTY-NINE years ago at the Avalon Ballroom.
Reviews have a lot of discussion regarding the validity of this recording, being from this date, due to some of the songs.
This Audience tape is a bit rough, but I still found it listenable.

Fifty-eight years ago in Seattle for night two. Available recordings are minimal and it seems, for the most part, circulated with incorrect dates. Again portions of the tour released on Road Trips Vol 2 No 2.

A couple of weeks ago I pulled a few tunes from the Road Trips Vol. 2 No. 2 release from the various venues on the Tour of the Great Pacific Northwest. Here’s the China Cat>The Eleven from this date in Seattle.

Fifty-seven years ago at the Avalon Ballroom, last night of the 3 night run. Released as the bonus on the 50th anniversary Aoxomoxoa release, including the final and most complete performance of Clementine. Great albeit short overall set.

Fifty-eight years ago, first of two nights in Seattle, the 2nd venue on the Tour of the Great Pacific Northwest. Don’t believe what archive tells you. What they list as the 22nd & 23rd are really the 26th & 27th. Excellent setlist and sound quality.

it is Brothers Jam Sunday, so here’s a bit of what they were laying down Friday night, with this KIMOCK classic.
(notice how loud the bar crowd was at the very beginning, and how quiet they got as Mother’s Song progressed)

More vocal tunes to come!

Fifty-seven years ago at the Avalon Ballroom. The iconic Aoxomoxoa poster. Still a month away from the epic Fillmore West run. Jerry and TC come out of the gate blazing with the Dark Star opener.
The whole show is just classic 69 Grateful Dead!

Fifty-seven years ago at the Avalon Ballroom. Rick Griffin’s iconic Aoxomoxoa artwork provided the poster, handbill and ticket for this three night run. Pretty much standard, and incredible, fare for early 1969.

Fifty-eight years ago today, the start if the Tour of the Great Pacific Northwest. First stop, Municipal Auditorium Eureka, CA. The debut of the almost mythical “Clementine”. A really short set, recording wise, but very good quality.

Just finished up rewatching The Other One on Netflix, and decided to revisit the So Far video which I may not have viewed since I bought it on VHS back in 1987.

We will most definitely be keeping Portland Weir this Friday night at one of our favorite “haunts” (hehe, it just never gets old!) The White Eagle Saloon. Special guests and prizes planned. You won’t want to miss it!
Keep the Bobby Love flowing in our community.

Yeah, so my fascination with 1968 Grateful Dead is continuing.
This version of New Potato Caboose, from the 68 Pacific Northwest tour, really caught my ear with the very jazzy jam in it, especially the keys by Pigpen. Really, really sweet!
Enjoy!

Good morning, and blessings to you on this day to honor Dr. King. I hope to keep my mind on peace, love and social justice today. It is also David Crosby Monday, and we’re going back to the 2018 Capitol Theatre video for another Croz classic, Laughing.

Fifty-eight years ago at the old Carousel Ballroom (soon to become the Fillmore West). Anither of these classic 68-69 Grateful Dead shows I am so enamored with right now, and less than a week before the “Tour of the Great Pacific Northwest” kicked off.

From the Road Trips Vol. 2 No. 2 release.
An early version of Dark Star from the Crystal Ballroom, is shorter, and faster, a bit closer in tempo to the studio version. Garcia also substitutes the word “transitional” in place of “transitive” in the 1st verse.

Fifty-six years ago here in Portland, actually out towards Gresham I hear. They even put directions on the poster. The Grateful Dead played Springers a few times back in the day. Reviews say the Easy Wind is a real good one.
