Fifty-eight years ago, from the Carousel Ballroom. A quintessential ‘68 Grateful Dead show. Large parts of this show made it onto both Anthem Of The Sun and the Road Trips Vol 2 No 2 releases. All that and a celebration of Neal Cassady. 💔🔨💔

Fifty-six years ago at Bill Graham’s Fillmore East in New York. A 4 hour show, released as volume 4 in the Dick’s Picks series, and looked upon as an early highlight of the series.
The Dark Star alone is considered by some to be in the top ten all time.

Thirty-seven years ago at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, CA. Third night of the run, that I was at.
Dylan showed up for this one, and as I remember, the show had its high and low points.

Fifty-seven years ago at the Fillmore East. Excellent recording with high marks to that Eleven! Too bad the Dark Star is missing its beginning.

Fifty-nine years ago at the Fillmore Auditorium, an Abe Lincoln Birthday Bash. You know how it is with some of these REALLY old recordings, verifying if they’re true to the date listed, but, it’s what’s in archive, and is some great Pigpen! Short & Sweet!

Thirty-seven years ago at the Forum in LA. I was at all these shows. Nice Stranger opener into Franklin’s. Brent’s Just A Little Light opened set 2 into Truckin’, Crazy Fingers & Playin’ In The Band. A fun run of shows as I remember.

Fifty-seven years ago at the Music Box in Omaha, NE. The band, from their stage banter weren’t too jazzed to be there, but it wasn’t reflected in the music, starting off with a hot Good Morning Little Schoolgirl.

Fifty-eight years ago today in Ashland, that’s right, Ashland, OR, on the final date of the Tour of the Great Pacific Northwest. The gym at Southern Oregon College. Other than the poster for the show, there is very little information out there on it regarding a setlist or recording.

Fifty-eight years ago, night two at the famous Crystal Ballroom in Portland. While the Dead played, Neal was counting railroad ties in Mexico (Bobby’s musings). After this, one gig left on the Tour of the Great Pacific Northwest.

Fifty-seven years ago in Minneapolis. Minneapolis?? In February? I’ve not heard this show yet, but it’s next on the listening party this morning. Apparently Garcia goes off on the crowd for not being “into it”.

Fifty-eight years ago at the famous Crystal Ballroom, the first of two nights on that bouncing floor. I’ve seen at least two different setlists in the archive for this one so I’ll list both, as well as YouTube link.

This coming Friday, Tom Guarna, one of the two great guitarists in Oteil & Friends brings his amazing jazz skills back to The 1905, in Portland, for two shows.
If you’re into jazz, you aren’t going to want to miss this, but remember, The 1905 is a tiny place and is likely to sell out.

Forty-eight years ago at the Uptown in Chicago. While we all wait impatiently for the arrival of Dave’s Picks #57, this tasty SBD will just have to do. A great show from start to finish, especially the Estimated>He’s Gone>The Other One in set 2.
