To check freshness of your spices, open container & you should be able to tell what the spice is by the scent. If you can't tell, rub a bit between your fingers. If still no scent discard and buy new. Also only add spices in last 20-30 mins for full flavour in cooking. In baking add as per recipe.

Why do all dictators target comedians? Because comedians can take a serious issue & distill it into a couple of simple sentences with a funny punchline. Comedians can puncture the dictator’s armour with satire. Humour is subversive. I support Colbert & Kimmel.

Wed was a day trip to Gimli on the shores of Lake Winnipeg about an hour north of Winnipeg Manitoba. Warm weather, light breeze, fab gal pals, great food and conversations. Walk on the beach & visit a polar bear sculpture that had been painted with aurora and indigenous theme. Perfection!

Happy #internationalchocolateday! As an unrepentant #chocoholic, I don’t really need an excuse to make one of my fave chocolate treats but then again why not take advantage of the day? So, I made a double chocolate brownie/cake with a chocolate ganache & roasted almonds. Yummy deliciousness ahead!
