Did you know our nursing history collection holds nearly 5,000 pamphlets - many over 100 years old?

We are working to make them easier to access for members and researchers by:

🔍 Improving search records
📜 Checking each pamphlet’s condition

H is for… #Handling

Wearing gloves whilst handling documents reduces manual dexterity and the ability to assess fragility through touch. Unless items are photographic, metallic or toxic, handling archives with clean and dry hands is generally the best practice.

From our historic nursing collection: Some Other Children by H.F. Gethen, a nurse who published several books from 1894-1899. Gethen's preface tells us these stories were all inspired by real daily incidents that occurred during her time working in children's hospitals. #HistNursing

From national organisations to niche collections, these active accounts are all (at time of posting) under 500 followers-lowest at 9-how many can we get over 500?

What remains is the long yawn back

to fallowness, this Monday morning’s
grey road …

remote from summer’s deep rustle,
its tussled length of hours.

Only this: the small pony & boy
now swallowed in time, a slow, iced air

breathing from the north,
roots entwined in the dark earth
