Hey NY, did you know there's a constitutional amendment on the ballot November 4th to allow a state park to be turned into a ski slope for the Olympics? Maybe make sure you show up to vote No on that. #Election #Vote #amendment #NewYork

I was so excited when I was scrolling Tubi and saw The Fog and then realized it was the remake and the disappointment was heavy. That’s a NO from me.

I’m not sure how accurate it is, but I’ve heard that he had some part in some of the scandals per community leaders / volunteers who aren’t happy that he hasn’t addressed any of the issues. The site that @king-reinhardt.bsky.social referenced they were looking at also calls him out for that.
doriansinnott.bsky.social
Yeah, though he also according to former NaNo leaders and community volunteers played a part in some of the scandals and has yet to own up or or apologize for anything… so it’s still super sketch 😬

Yeah, it’s in their FAQ, About Us, and the opening info on the site. The nonprofit (Office of Letters and Light) no longer exists, but NaNoWriMo itself is still around.
doriansinnott.bsky.social
It's not the organization as a whole, but still run by the founder of NaNoWriMo and the organization.

Their *new* site: nano2.org

They also have an account here they’ve been sharing info about participating this year on.

Which is hilarious given their “new” stance on AI…though it still isn’t condemning using it entirely and hasn’t apologized for their previous comments.

Absolutely! I'll probably still refrain from using any NaNoWriMo related hashtags (and anything with the 2.0) since they *do* have a foot in it and are using the same name...but I'm definitely doing my own writing challenge next month!

Ahhh! Interesting! I didn’t even know this one was a thing. It looks like they’re both called NaNoWriMo2 and NaNoWriMo 2.0 interchangeably 😳 But the “official” one is run by the same folks who ran the original NaNo.

That said, though, I plan on still writing a novel and doing the challenge for myself in November—unattached to any organization or group. I’ve been doing it for the last, geez, like 16 years…I don’t need an official thing to set goals for myself for the month 🤘🏻
doriansinnott.bsky.social
It looks like NaNoWriMo2 is, in fact, run by the same folks 😬

Watched BE MY CAT: A FILM FOR ANNE for the first time today. Definitely one to check out if you like found footage films. There were some really unsettling parts and the concept of the film was terrifying.

I felt the same. Maybe slightly better than some other recent installments (not by much), but the AI slop in addition to all that just was the nail in the coffin for me.
