Dealing with sickness is scary enough as it is, nobody should feel like there will be consequences for seeking care. This is the sad reality of so many of our patients, stuck in our broken immigration and asylum systems.
For migrants, the NHS is a hostile environment
Asylum seekers are not receiving care they urgently need, and to which they are entitled

Deeply concerned about the Home Secretary’s planned asylum overhaul.

The current system needs fixing, but today's proposals will bring more chaos while failing to address the real issues. Refugees need safety & stability to rebuild their lives - these changes threaten both.
What changes to the UK asylum system are Labour proposing?
Refugees would face longer waits and possible return to their home country if deemed safe, under proposals

Forcing people into small cells in harsh, prison-like facilities and preventing proper support is cruel and totally unacceptable. We urge the government to change course on this deal and stop harming people who have already lived through war, torture and trauma.

It’s been 100 days since the UK-France deal came into force. Every day, our Casework Team sees the serious harm it’s causing to people seeking asylum. Beyond the government's failures, detention harms people — even more so for those fleeing war, torture and persecution.

This is cruelty by design.

Military barracks are not safe or appropriate for people who have survived violence & persecution. Housing refugees in camps next to sounds of shooting and dogs is shamefully reckless. #CloseTheCamps

People seeking asylum deserve care, not constant neglect.

🔴 Children in UK government care are vanishing into traffickers' hands.

The Home Office is failing them, leaving children with no choice but to cross the Channel alone and putting them at serious risk of sexual and physical abuse. Safe asylum accommodation must be a priority.

Safe housing = good public health, it's that simple.

Instead, people are trapped in a cycle of poverty and illness, struggling to even access medical care. It is unacceptable for anyone to be living in these conditions, including people seeking asylum. #CloseTheCamps
