in any case it is wild that voters just sent a huge message and a bunch of senate democrats are all, “it doesn’t look like anything to me”

I'm looking to see not only which Senate Dem candidates oppose this surrender (all of them will) but also where they go beyond this with respect to senate leadership.

I want to see concrete promises for a new fighting Dem Party, because the current one is broken.
This moment demands fighters, not folders.

I think Senate folders are significantly underestimating how fucking angry Democratic voters are at them
Today is just more proof that progressives need to primary every so-called "centrist" Democrat

Trying to watch the Lions game and suddenly it's Fox and Friends with Trump in the booth 🤮

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Following up on this. This remains a ‘cave is minutes or hours away’ situation. If you want to impact how this plays out you need to contact senators literally now. I want to add additional points of context. What I’m relaying is what I’ve picked up from highly reliable sources.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Americans can’t afford this deal.

Democrats can fight AND win — just like we did in our budget battle in Michigan.

A promise isn’t a deal. Don’t settle.

🚨 We’re hearing that Senate Democrats are on the verge of caving to Trump in another “Schumer Surrender.”

That means your Democratic senators need to hear from you right now.

If the rumors are right, now's the time to call.

If the rumors are wrong, well, you've just reminded them to hold the line.

Call.

I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.

I just called. Threatening to primary your senator is cathartic. I recommend it.
I play it safe and yell at both of my Senators every time I see a news story about them caving.
Imagine sitting down to watch a YouTube video essay in 2025 and being confused that there are costumes. I guess at least you're pulling in people who are new to the genre?
@parkroseperma.bsky.social the Sean Duffy quote is fake. Respectfully, please take down your repost and be more careful.

maybe it’s only another X wave but the upswing of screenshots of news stories with no link or byline or source (no alt text)… or posting photojournalists’ work w/o attribution or a link… just take 30 seconds before posting to tell us where it’s from. and if you don’t know why are you posting it??
People talk about the danger of a majority vote in the senate as though Republicans didn't work overtime to fit as many horrible things as they could into the reconciliation process while leveraging the filibuster to prevent the Democrats from ever fixing anything.

Jeremy, I have followed your science advocacy on this platform with respect, but I find this thread deeply hurtful and sad and I am going to tell you why. While my wife did her postdoc at CSHL, she and our many dear friends had to endure the racist rhetoric of this man, which did constant harm
On one evening, the speakers were divided up and went to dinner parties hosted by some of the wealthy folks who lived around Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island. My dinner was delightful, with good conversation with our host (the mayor of a nearby village), his friends, and some other speakers.

Trying to figure out what #SCOTUS just did with #SNAP, and why Justice Jackson temporarily froze the district court's ruling?

Via "One First," me on what's going on—and why I think Jackson's move was savvy, notwithstanding the awful circumstances that forced it:
