I've been publishing lots of wine ratings lately, so what do they mean for me? What's the difference between 3 and 4 stars?

I have no idea in what universe is a £15 bottle a sign someone is nouveau riche - if anything I’d expect them to go for flashy and expensive but meh “name” bottles.

Just drink what you like, evolve your own taste, and don’t mind the likes of Windsor.

Graf Adelmann Brüssele Cuvée Trocken by Weingut Graf Adelmann (2022) - 2½ ⭐

Overpriced cooking wine with too much tobacco and chocolate - fruit only comes out later and vanishes almost right away....

40 Anos Years Porto by Augusto's (N.V.) - 4½ ⭐

Second only to their 30 year old. Aroma is like a good Pedro Ximenez, only lighter. Very light toffee. Lingers a bit.

Château Rasque Pièce Noble by Château Rasque (2022) - 4 ⭐

Raspberry, grapefruit, berries, turning into a strong, jammy taste as it goes along. Different. Juicy. You could sit around and think this for a a while. 60% syrah / 40% grenache.

Does anybody know how reliable vinetur.com is? They keep appearing on #winesky but their posts, as far as I can tell, have neither bylines nor links to sources.

Pepper, balsamic, coffee, black currant. Exceedingly drinkable at 15%. Nice - I wouldn't have expected it.

With wine there’s almost always at least one exception to every ‘rule’. 😜

I love a good Palomino Fino, and not enough people are aware the grape is used for anything but sherry.

I wonder if in five years it’s going to be like Verdejo was until now, or how Albariño is becoming - the go-to white wine for tapas.

This is one reason why I was against showing a single average score for a wine @winesky.app.

Eventually I plan to add a more personalized average. While the analysis feature will show average scores across multiple publications, it skews the notes more around when you'll like them (or not)

Depressing eve @ Paris Wine Fair @ old-vintages tasting of new world producer. Bordeaux’s spell holds: wines which even after 30 yrs+ are still grotesquely over-oaked/tannic. Just to prove they can “age like French wines”. What a ghastly inferiority complex. Just not sthg I actually want to drink

I’d say jalapeño poppers with Gewürztraminer - preferably Alsace - and ribs with Alicante Shiraz, but you do you.
These combinations will take your mind off the referees, guaranteed. 🏈

Funky. Barn, hay, apricot, quince. Bergamot on the nose, strangely enough.

Like a tasty orange wine - not sweet, but reminiscent of ripe fruit.

It would work with perfectly umami, or samosas.
