This book reads like a long slow death, yet it ends gently without the violent impact we often associate with death. Nothingness, or ghostness, or air as a source of freedom & a type of being are themes in this story that melt into ideas of camoflauge or having malleable borders or edges. (fin)

I include this quote because after concluding this book I felt suddenly very connected to this epic poem and the Simorgh .. that mystical bird of all birds (literally made of all birds). I often feel this way when I read Jeff Vandermeer, finding connections to humanities oldest symbols and lessons.+

Too few people realize that widespread knowledge of Nazi death camps came very late. Many who escaped Nazi death camps took on great risk to warn others, and were not always believed.

The ICE camps are concentration camps. They should be called concentration camps.

It is, of course, important to distinguish between concentration camps and death camps, but also, I am not sure we will know when or if we undergo the transition from concentration camps into death camps.

originally asked to be called Milo when i was 15 then i switched to arlo but rveryone named their puppy dogs that and it didn’t suit my needs anymore, then i took finch because ima bird <3, but then i realized im part of a system and we have a couple other names that stay sort of private
