This is true of so, so, so many things. You can try a game of saying, “hey, what would be true if both my experience and this fact that feels opposite of my experience were true at the same time”. I think it is really useful. You don’t have live in that space but its okay to play in it.

I think of it that there are two types of importance. The importance of me being me and what I need. And the importance of me being a part of things and impacting others and my world in small ways just by being there and present

The lab has asked for an intro to genetics book for the lab library. Do folks have any recommendations?

I can’t believe I have to make this statement but here it is:
There are experts who believe in BOTH modern vaccines and medicines AND traditional plant medicine/ natural remedies.
And we dont really conjure the media or capture audiences like the extremists do. 👀

Anyone seen writing that thinks about fossil fuels as a kind of time travel?
Fictional or scholarly.

I had an undergrad prof who always made comments like this.
Frustrated one day, I finally asked him who raised us [to be so displeasing].
I don't think he ever brought it up again.

We signed our lease today, which means I can tell you Good Girl Books will be located at 7685 W Northshore Drive between Richy Kreme donuts and Flourish flowers in Knoxville! We bought a can of pink paint today! IT’S HAPPENING! (Also donuts, flowers, and romance novels is a helluva day!)
Whelp, I have some big news! My good friend Rayanne has been running a mobile romance book truck for the last year, and she’s done so well that it’s time to open a brick and mortar. And that’s where I come in! I’m going into business with her to bring Good Girl Books THE STORE to Knoxville!

Thank you for your service!
My community outreach to ultraconservative voters is complete and I've learned all I've needed to learn and holy shit balls guys I am never doing that again.
Person 1: Black, 30, biz-bro type, from an upper-middle class (if not rich) family. He thinks both sides are bad but thinks the DEMs are worse. His perception of reality is fucking wrecked from getting his news from Twitter and podcasts. Had no idea about the impacts the DOGE "cuts" were causing.

All of this. Public Radio affiliates are often the only thing on the dial in the rural U.S. that isn’t right-wing talk radio or Christian proselytizing (is there a difference these days ha hah ugh) and they do so much good, necessary reporting, even if they don’t get everything right
A quick and typed-on-my-phone-riddled-with-typos thread about why I think people need to support NPR/PBS, even though they did post that one interview you didn't like:

And when you do, where do you even begin? When they're getting distorted information, what's the common ground on which to move forward?
Again, it's a fucking paradox or whatever.
To deradicalize someone you need to talk to them but I don't fucking want to talk to these people!! lol

I have to say that I've been really impressed with the Knoxville News Sentinel. In a decidedly conservative area, they haven't shied from Black-business themed features or this front page story...
