🎁 For this holiday season, consider gifting COLOR TASTE TEXTURE! It’s a great primer for people of all ages with little to no experience cooking. If you have some neurodivergent friends and family, or parents of littles, they might love this! It’s not just a cookbook, it’s a new approach to food. 🎁
I’m an Autistic classically trained chef and I wrote a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide titled COLOR TASTE TEXTURE, that’s all about finding out what works for specific sensory needs and how to customize food for them. It’s useful for all ages, no cooking experience necessary.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Me, thinking to myself outloud, “I’d like something like candy or fruit snacks, but different…”
An alien voice, buried deep, from beyond the Autistic corners of my mind… *maybe.. fruit?*
Me, 😳, “Don’t be absurd.”

Pie should not be hot or even warm
As the author of a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide (COLOR TASTE TEXTURE), I support all food preferences.

Personally, fruit should not be hot. No fruit pie for me, thanks.
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

COLOR TASTE TEXTURE is in hundreds of libraries all over the world.

Openly autistic written books published by one of the”bigs” for a largely neurodivergent audience is rare. When books like mine are pirated, it’s sending publishers the message we aren’t worth publishing.
Libraries are free for you to use, serve the public good, are great, support creators financially and, I cannot be clear enough about this-- ARE FREE FOR YOU TO USE-- so pirating books makes you kind of an asshole, not some Marxist revolutionary.

If the book you want isn't there *request it.*

I don’t know how many Harlan Coben television series’s I’ve watched. It’s more than five and fewer than 20. I don’t think I’ve actually liked a single one, but I’ll try another one I suppose.

In which Zack Budryk perfectly captures the feeling many #ActuallyAutistic people feel in this particular moment of RFK Jr.'s resurgence: We felt like we were turning the corner on autism acceptance. And now we are seeing that door closed off.

Thiiiiissss.
I don’t like how cooking fruit changes the texture, so even cold apple pie is a no go for me. Perhaps my position should be “Fruit should not be hot or cooked.”

Small pie take: Hostess Chocolate Pudding Pies are actual ambrosia. I used to buy them when I was particularly sad or to celebrate a small win. I don’t care about their nutrition and if you ingredient scold me I’ll block you. They are magic.
