The team behind Obojima not only don’t care about Ghibli outside of the aesthetic, they also fully do not understand it. They’re either complete buffoons or actively bad people and the truth likely lies in the middle.

The reason that the head of Larian is emboldened to say this is because the studio behind Expedition 33 got caught using AI as "placeholders" and the gaming industry still gave them multiple awards a week ago.
"we USE ai, but our game wont CONTAIN it" is a clarification that no one has ever cared about & now CEOs are using it as a wedge to get their foot in the door as a part of a long term plan into normalizing AI, just like how 'it's just placeholder' was used with E33. dont cede even an inch of ground
