That is a very cheap deal. Good on Hutson for accepting it. There’s no limit to what a team can do if everybody opts in. We’re finally in that virtual cycle in Montreal: never thought I’d see it (taxes, weather, other excuses) but turns out all you need is to build a contender.

Three games in and my scaredy-cat posts about centers and missing veterans has proven alarmist. Team is complete and can compete… albeit harder competition will come. It’s also just exciting to look at odds and seeing Habs favored in games. What a feeling.

Habs power play has one play (pass below the goal line, pass to slot, shoot), which is problematic when you have 1) nine power plays and 2) muff or miss the shot every time

His record is solid and his stats are usually fine but Montembeault needs to win back my trust every season. I will never reflexively thing ‘number one goalie’. It’ll always be ‘I am not sure’ followed by ‘pleasant surprise’ - until it isn’t.
