When a government decides to destroy its universities, it is making a statement about its future.
It sees no need for a people educated in the sciences, the arts, history or culture. It sees no reason for research and innovation. It sees no reason to better itself.
It has given up on its future.

What’s saddest is the missed opportunity. As the USA decides to turn its back on the enlightenment the UK could become the world’s university.
Instead we’re going to shoot ourselves in the leg, again all because forriners = bad.
Worst is the public generally support people coming here to learn.

Our uni leaders need to grow a backbone and tell the govt they aren’t just going to play anymore while the govt lets us all burn.
