Loved returning to @tcddublin.bsky.social last week after 22yrs for many reasons, but their “wild” spaces stand out. I bet they’re great for reducing greenhouse emissions and also helping pollinator populations. Would love to see more of that on US campuses. #environment #highered #Ireland

Interesting and hopeful, Provides insight into why my Republican leaning district in Maine keeps rejecting the MAGAs who want to slash and burn public education
Across party lines, voters overwhelmingly support a strong federal role in education generally and in research and development (R&D) specifically.

I’m as anti-MAGA as they come, but the part of this that involves levying more taxes from institutions with huge endowments appeals to me. If non-profit universities want to conduct themselves like for-profit businesses, there should be a tax on that. I disagree with the religious exemption though

Compelling take against one size fits all teaching as well as manufactured scarcity, despite much of it being unrelatable to those of us who don’t teach at elite institutions (which is most of us).
“Much of the effort of the schools and the external examining system is to find ways of rejecting the majority of students at various points in the education system and to discover the talented few who are to be given advanced educational opportunities.” [Bloom, 1968] #AcademicSky
