I wonder what the deal is with this little airplane. This isn't near the Super Bowl.

I'm a West Coaster and I take the train daily. And I lose AT&T connectivity every ride right here. If you know the area, you know why.

Anyone know what the @caltrain.com equivalent of this slide is?
BART's newly released concepts for what they'll do if Connect Bay Area transit funding measure fails are terrifying.

Phase 1: 63% train hours cut & 10 station closures
Phase 2: Cumulative 70% train hours cut, 15 station closures
Phase 3 (if required): END BART SERVICE

We must pass the measure!

When I first moved into my house here, it was all single pane windows. Some windows couldn't even be fully closed because they were shutter-style windows. As someone from a place where it snows, this was all quite surprising.

Also, I think there's some self-selection bias for a thread like this.

Did they make those aprons out of kevlar or something? How did they last so long.

Reminds me of this photo of took in Dec 2019 of a guy offering rides at JFK, in front of a sign warning passengers about this.

Maybe someone could get the rights to open a J&R Music World at the Fulton Center. Then... it could be twice as dead?

I remember as a kid, that was the kind of snow that people die from heart attacks from shoveling. So my dad would make me shovel it 🤔

I broke a woodenshovel handle once doing that.

If you’re not a fan of getting stuck in traffic on 101, then you should support this or more people will be on 101 rather than Caltrain
Boots are hitting the ground today in a campaign to save Bay Area public transit agencies from precipitous fiscal cliffs and severe service cuts that would all but cripple regional transit.

All this while the loan to float agencies in short term is still up in the air.

I've heard from a professor in one of my group chats that blue book / in-class essay exams are back, thanks to GenAI. So maybe writing long pieces of text by hand is a thing again?

This part is so stomach churning. It seems to me that Airbus planes should have a mechanism to keep both side-sticks' physical position linked, much like the yokes on Boeing planes.

Back in the day, the school store sold a t-shirt that said "It's Johnssssss Hopkins"
On the plus side fewer people are misspelling Johns Hopkins in their applications.

This is a good answer: bsky.app/profile/belm...
Yep! In c 2000 new CA laws took effect requiring public schools to report annual API scores - an index to gauge relative district and school performance. BRSSD’s scores were by the far the highest on the mid peninsula for any district that was relatively affordable (vs B’game, Menlo, San Carlos)

I was reading through a report that a demographics consultant prepared to forecast enrollment in my school district, and this historical chart caught my eye. I wonder what accounted for the rocket ship growth Obama era.
