The right completely fails to understand that national productivity (and security) succeeds and thrives when the mass of citizens are NOT terrified every second (of getting sick; of trying to deal with banks and insurance; of starving).

More productivity = more for all (even the billionaires!)

Patriarchy does seem to go along with making use of children. Caring about the welfare of the children would never occur to them; the kids are "property."

Today's Republicans must expunge every element of humanity from their being. They must ignore the facts about the productivity and security of nations (hint: the 1950s list here gets better results than does oppression).

They must renounce common sense.

The 'right objects to Bad Bunny' story has NO potential to anger Dear Leader. So Dear Leader won't start thinking up ways to tax or otherwise obstruct Bezos' businesses.

Also, Conflict sells. Though oligarchs v. Americans IS a conflict, it's too abstract and attenuated to drive clicks.

Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, a Republican and the chairman of the National Governors Association, on Thursday criticized the deployment of Texas National Guard troops to Illinois as a violation of his beliefs in federalism and “states’ rights.”

His comments, in an interview with The New York Times, marked the first time a Republican governor has questioned the interstate deployment of National Guard troops over a governor’s objections. Gov. JB Pritzker of Illinois and other Democratic elected officials have been strongly critical of the move and have implored Republican governors to join the opposition.

Mr. Stitt on Thursday said, “We believe in the federalist system — that’s states’ rights,” adding, “Oklahomans would lose their mind if Pritzker in Illinois sent troops down to Oklahoma during the Biden administration.”

No sane person believes that Mr. Blow-Up-Boats, Mr. Zip-Tie-Kids deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

He will get it ONLY if he has managed to threaten the voting committee members sufficiently. (With death, presumably. They won't take "I'll bar you from the USA" as a meaningful threat.)
