Tax relief on home ownership is a waste of money. The extra money from the relief ends up increasing house prices. It might not be popular, but scrapping the tax breaks makes sense. (phasing them out over several years is how you do it to avoid tanking housing market).

So how does it change? What first step could unpick the Brexit we have now?
A first step is to review the opportunity (& cost) presented by EEA & EFTA. A formal review (budget announcement?) would start debate & engagement. Sadly I don't think Labours policy wonks have the vision or balls for that.

Funny how manifesto pledges about tax don't matter at all but the self harming pledges about Brexit, that is the reason for the tax increases are cast in stone. We are all,paying through the nose for ignorant xenophobes and political cowardice.

Should have reversed the Conservative National Insurance cut last year - it was a clear mistake and was the first indication of very poor judgement in the Labour leadership. (Should also have undone the temporary fuel cut, at least in part, too).
Not hindsight, many thought that at the time.

So the train attacker incident in the UK has a simple lesson for the USA. A lot of people had some bad injuries but to date nobody has died, because this deranged person had no access to firearms.

VAT cut on electric bills is not the best approach (I think).
The same (or less) could be spent on cutting standing charges. Everyone saves, proportionatly those using least electricity (smaller properties) will save most proportionately.

In Australia (in particular my state), all medical treatment would be free and then ongoing costs (for rehab, psychology, loss of income etc) would be covered by the TAC- Transport Accident Commission. www.tac.vic.gov.au/about-the-ta... Regardless of who's at fault. We're so bloody lucky.
