The Mossmorran closure is once again a betrayal of the principles of a just transition - we should have had a plan in place years ago, something @markruskell.bsky.social and the @scottishgreens.org have been calling for for nearly a decade. Another community left behind whilst big oil moves on 🔥

- Get rid of legal routes to seek asylum "asylum seekers are illegal"
- Ban them from working "they live on handouts"
- Change the rules on acceptable claims "they're bogus"
- Scrap family unification "where are the women and children?"
- End routes to settled status "why won't they integrate?"

'The only way to deliver climate justice is to deliver social and economic justice as well' 🌍

Thousands took to the streets of Glasgow on Saturday to demand our governments put people and planet before profit to tackle the climate emergency. 📺⤵️

Once again, racists have chosen to spend their evening intimidating vulnerable children and families.

🚨 BREAKING

The SNP have just blocked our motion, confirming they no longer oppose the Rosebank oil field application.

If Rosebank goes ahead it'll be a grave act of environmental vandalism. This is a huge step backwards for Scotland's climate action.
Today the Scottish Parliament will vote on our motion opposing Rosebank.

The oil field would release a massive 250 million tonnes of new carbon emissions into our atmosphere, 50 times as much as previously admitted!

We must put people and planet first, not corporate profits.

Nigel Seaton has confirmed that there will be further substantial job losses at the University of Dundee. We’ve already lost over 500 colleagues in a year.

If you are academic or academic-related staff you can join Dundee UCU. We’re fighting to save jobs and improve our working conditions.

Our planet is on fire, and workers are being hit hard by the cost of living, but the super-rich couldn't care less.

BP pocketed £1.7 billion in profit, whilst our energy bills are rising and climate chaos intensifies.

It's time for climate action, it's time to tax the rich!

An attack on Nablus is an attack on Dundee
Nablus under attack this week.

On Monday Israeli forces raided Balata refugee camp and abducted Mo’taz Nassar Abu ‘Aisha. On Wednesday, in the village of Qaryout (south of Nablus), hundreds of olive trees were cut down, likely by Israeli colonists.

I also met with @scottishgreens.org colleagues during our conference in Edinburgh, & last weekend stood with the thousands who know Scotland can do better to tackle poverty.

It's barely mentioned in the article, but the reason we can't afford something as basic as orange juice any more is the climate crisis. It's the cause of drought in Brazil, and the spread of the insects that cause citrus greening. We need to get real about this.
