19 June 1940 // Submarine HMS Orpheus was last heard from on this date while on patrol in the Mediterranean. She sent a signal from a position off Benghazi and disappeared, cause of loss unconfirmed. All 55 officers and men were lost. (Imperial War Museum Q 67709) #RoyalNavy #WW2 #NavalHistory

19 June 1940 // HM Trawler Murmansk was taking part in the evacuation of British forces from Brest but ran aground in the harbour in the early hours of the morning and was abandoned as a wreck. The Germans later salvaged her and put her into service as a patrol boat. #RoyalNavy #WW2 #NavalHistory

An interesting encounter earlier today. We love junk shops for potential exhibits when in France. In this one we found a selection of WW1 relic grenades on offer. Stunning Mdle16 stick grende being one. Still very viable!
