The Dunn Lab was out at the Stand Up for Science rally in Denver today!

It was cold but we met some great folks and had the distinct pleasure of meeting Steve, who had the most excellent hat 🎩

Three women at the Stand Up for Science rally in front of the Capitol building in Denver. One holds a trans flag, one holds a sign with a quote from Neil DeGrasse Tyson saying “The good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it” and the third holds a sign that reads “in science we trust”. My quote of the day

We have managed to unite a country tearing down the barriers the regime built to divide us. Ours is a fight of a nation united against a criminal tyranny, in defense of its human rights, freedom, and democracy. That is why we have no alternative but victory

Pseudoscience is popular in part because it seeks to confirm our beliefs.

Science can be less popular in part because it seeks to interrogate our beliefs.

Good science, like good art and literature, can upset the established ways in which we see the world.

Without an understanding of immune tolerance, organ transplantation will not be possible. Also, their discoveries opened avenues for cancer and auto immune disease therapies.
Congratulations to these year's awardees of the nobel prize in physiology or medicine.

Stimulating immune cells in vitro is a common experimental lab model. We profiled 150K blood immune cells treated with 11 different stimuli to compare the effects. The data are freely available for researchers. See the preprint for our findings and to access the data 🧪 doi.org/10.1101/2025...

The first one was… fine...

The second one was utterly awful.

Do any of the professors or journalists or teachers also get their jobs back or nah

Because they saw how joyful the left was online when we thought that ‘It Had Happened’™️ and they’re using this as a trial run for cracking down when it does happen.

If you’re still in line for the future of this country, STAY IN LINE!

All jokes aside, I do find it oddly comforting to come across empirical evidence countering the “everything is over” narrative.

Right! I keep seeing posts and headlines about Kimmel’s “comments” and then i saw it and FFS it was a clip of the cheeto 😡

I have two professor colleagues who have faced threats and harassment due to the organization Charlie Kirk built, and they were not alone. We can denounce and loathe political violence without hagiography for its victims. This is dangerous nonsense.

"But I envied what he built. A taste for disagreement is a virtue in a democracy. Liberalism could use more of his moxie and fearlessness."
That is Ezra Klein.

I bet if Charlie Kirk had run a website called the Pundit Watchlist the reaction might be a bit different right now

Literally the second meme I've made in my life.
The tired old "Anakin and Padme" meme:

Anakin: I did it! I went back in time and saved us from RFK!"
Padme: RFK *junior*, right?...

We told them about tetanus, which you can get if you get a cut on the playground, and it makes all the muscles in your body squeeze hard enough to break bones. Or whopping cough, which makes you cough so hard it breaks your ribs.

They very bravely got all their shots with minimal complaining💪🏼
dunnimmunolab.bsky.social
These last shots have been hardest because they remember getting shots and… didn’t want more. We opted for radical honesty to get their compliance… we conceded that shots hurt a little bit, but way less than the sicknesses.

The day Jr was confirmed I called to see about getting my kids more shots. The office was confused since the twins weren’t due for another 6-ish months for their 5 year/preK boosters but they indulged me. I was afraid of vaccines becoming restricted, or dangerous due to cutbacks at FDA.

OMG I felt that hahahaha 🤣

It’s very little to do with modesty or shame and almost entirely to do with… containment.
