BREAKING: House Republicans just passed the SAVE America Act — a sweeping federal bill that could disenfranchise millions.

The bill now heads to the Senate, where it faces long odds amid unified Democratic resistance.

This bill is such a nightmare. I moved twice in three years and changed my voting registration online each time. This bill would require you to change your voting registration *in person* any time you moved districts - which, if you’re young, could be pretty frequently
NEW: House passes SAVE America Act

218-213; Rs + 1 Dem (Cuellar) vote yes.

Revised Trump-backed bill requires showing proof of citizenship "in person" to register and slaps photo ID rules to vote.

Now it goes to the Senate. No path to 60. THUNE promises a vote.

House passes SAVE America Act, sending Trump-backed election bill to the Senate
The legislation would overhaul federal election laws in all 50 states by imposing new voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements. But it faces a daunting path in the Senate.

Tom Tillis claims ICE agents need masks to avoid facial recognition and doxxing. Facial recognition is a law enforcement tool. Posting a photo is not doxxing. The argument being made is for unidentifiable state power.

Rep. Kennedy: "Do you believe your agency has a legal obligation to follow court orders?"

ICE Director Lyons: "Yes."

Rep. Kennedy: "You have a very strange way of showing it, with a federal judge finding that your agency is in violation of 96 orders in one month alone."

It’s a loyalty test. It’s always a loyalty test. And every time Republicans feign ignorance or hem and haw, it gives him the green light to go even further.
BREAKING: Trump says he 'didn't make a mistake' with his racist video post.

Q:  "A number of Republicans are calling on you to apologize for that post. Is that something you're going to do?"

Trump: "No, I didn't make a mistake."

He adds later: "I guess it was a take off on the Lion King."

This contradicts Karoline Leavitt’s implication that some random, unnamed low-level staffer was to blame for posting the now-deleted racist Obama ape video.
