Gather round Bluesky, while I tell a tale that happened 100 years ago in a magical place called “Louisiana.” One of the more incredible “what-ifs” of turn of the 20th century USA, and that’s saying something. Today we’re talking about House Resolution 23261: The “American Hippo Bill”

When you’re ready to go after the wine industry, it’s use of the 100pt scale, and industry publication rankings, I’m here bröther
January 7, 2026 at 9:40 PM
Not to mention how the US American wine industry depends on the 100pt scale, when there is no industry standard 100pt scale, everyone’s 100 pts means something different. Every single American views themselves only drinking 94-100pt wine, & will pass on everything under 93pts but can’t explain why
Outstanding episode, beyond relevant to the wine world & the state of things currently. Before the Tasting of Paris gave US Americans a metric of “We can compete with the French at wine”, Chenin blanc was the #1 white grape planted in CA. Once Montelena’s chardonnay was ranked #1, EVERYONE switched
I needed to start the new year with this conversation with the remarkable philosopher C. Thi Nguyen (@add-hawk.bsky.social) about scoring systems; outsourcing values; and the game that you — and me — shouldn't be playing: youtu.be/7AdbePyGS2M?...

MacCALLUM: You have about 100,000 dying from drug overdoses, most of those drugs from from Venezuela and other places

CROW: That's actually not true. The majority of the deaths by drugs in America are the result of meth and fentanyl. Almost none of that comes from Venezuela

not taking away from Myles Garrett, but let's take a moment to celebrate Al "Bubba" Baker, who had 23 sacks in 1978 before sacks were an official stat.

@pro-football-reference.com ran the numbers in 2021, confirming his record. he was overjoyed to finally be acknowledged www.nfl.com/news/al-bubb...

Jerce Reyes fled the Maduro regime and sought asylum through legal channels in the United States.

The Trump administration disappeared him to CECOT:
If you’d like to know what it was really like inside CECOT for an innocent man who was wrongfully deported by this administration, we interviewed a pro soccer player and youth coach named Jerce Reyes two weeks ago: youtu.be/vlz3eGwHZBY?...
