FT's US columnist/commentator. Author of several books including NYT best selling biography of Zbigniew Brzezinski (Simon & Schuster 2025). People lacking a sense of humour might get muted.

Just a periodic reminder.
Wish people would stop saying Trump has done a U-turn on Ukraine. He does this every few weeks. Putin then makes a violent point of ignoring him. Trump's alleged change of heart is just a prelude to his next humiliation by Putin.

So glad to see "Zbig" by Edward Luce named as one of the 50 Notable Non-Foction Books of the Year by the @washingtonpost. A terrific biography of one of the most important foreign policy figures of modern times. www.washingtonpost.com/books/2025/1...

Fully agree with my paper's editorial on Trump. Ukraine needs Europe to stop flattering Trump the conman and take a clear stand for its own survival and values. www.ft.com/content/8ccf...

Delighted to see Zbig on the Wapo's best non-fiction of 2025, though because it begins with Z it appears last. www.washingtonpost.com/books/2025/1...

Thatโ€™s the bitter irony. An eyeball-chasing BBC has essentially subsidised Reformโ€™s rise.

No, N Korea's the perfect example. Whatever you can say of the BBC it's at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Just read transcript of GB News interview with Trump. North Korean broadcasting standards. Bev Turner is not a journalist. Her sycophancy was shameful.

โ€œA politicianโ€™s greatest trick is to convince you that he's not one,โ€ Nuzzi writes. โ€œAnd what is a politician? Any man who wants to be loved more than other men and through his pursuit reveals why he cannot love himself.โ€

High end clickbait masquerading as sophistication.

Gotta give my friend @edwardluce.bsky.social credit: He published this column in the @financialtimes.com in the wee hours this morning in London, and it's now almost lunchtime in Washington and it has already aged like a bottle of 1869 Chรขteau Lafite Rothschild.
โ€œAre you still talking about Epstein?โ€ Trump keeps asking. Epstein is a โ€œdead issueโ€, he says.ย The man stays dead but his issue is very much alive. That is because the system that protected Epstein has still not been held to account." My column. on.ft.com/43p8IhQ
