hypothetically couldn’t an NWSL team:
- sign a player to a large contract (ex. $1 million per year)
- buyout said contract prior to salary cap compliance day
- re-sign said player to a smaller contract
it’s a handshake deal, but a legal way to pay the player above what’s possible in the salary cap
