Most recent World Cups have been controversial in their own way.

But in 2026, the United States will take its place alongside the most problematic hosts in the tournament's checkered history.

Cristian Espinoza played 218 regular season MLS games for San Jose and was the best player on the field for most of them over 7 years stateside.

He played TWO playoff games in that span.

One of the all-time fumbles of talent in league history.

This is really encouraging. There's a lot of low hanging fruit that Adams dragged his feet on (or made worse) over the past four years. Even if he comes short on the more ambitious parts of his agenda, just making real efforts to fix the obviously broken things is such a breath of fresh air.
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.

Just once I want a goalkeeper to authoritatively rise for a cross, catch the ball, land, and start sprinting forward...but not stop at the edge of the penalty area. Just keep going, holding the ball all the while. As the referee blows the whistle and players try to stop them, they just keep going.

It's one of sports' great oddities that the United States created modern baseball and is its unquestioned power center and yet their international baseball cap logo has been straight-up ass for what feels like forever.

A wild day for the NWSL doing things MLS would do but for no discernible reason.
BREAKING: The Kansas City Current are finalizing a deal to hire Chris Armas as head coach, sources tell ESPN. Armas most recently coached MLS' Colorado Rapids. KC Current won the #NWSL Shield in 2025.

Adjusted for inflation, this is a little more than 5x the amount of public funds the Company Formerly Known As OnGoal got in 2010 for the Sporting KC stadium + Cerner campus (the latter of which is already vacated).
BREAKING: The Chiefs are set to receive $1.8 billion (!) in public money for a new $3 billion stadium in Kansas. That's the largest public subsidy ever for a U.S. sports stadium project. More coming for practice facility, too.
