Personally I think it's cool that an expansion team, in their first year, is so willing to pay tribute to MLS history.
Football lines on the field for a playoff game. Ah these are the MLS playoffs I remember from my youth.

Steve Cherundolo says that given some time to reflect, LAFC players & staff will realize "we lost this one, and Vancouver didn't win."

One of the best MLS games I've ever seen.
November 23, 2025 at 5:41 AM
you have got to be fucking kidding me with the end of this game
November 23, 2025 at 5:25 AM
It's barely even a foul IMO
As a game-changing second yellow card + foul that leads to equalizing free-kick golazo? Hmmm...
November 23, 2025 at 5:01 AM
No thanks, it's not actual authentic soccer if it doesn't end with a drawn-out series of random matchups that may or may not mean anything.
Imagine running a soccer league and not having playoffs.

This is amazing.

Denis Bouanga seems to hit another gear in mins 75 thru 90+ if LAFC is behind and it's always pretty insane to watch.

NEW: "Underdog, my ass" wasn't just a catchy slogan. It was a reminder that 18 months ago, Gotham FC was built to become a dynasty.

Those plans are back on track after Saturday's 1-0 win over Washington, with Rose Lavelle making the difference. For The Guardian: www.theguardian.com/football/202...
Rose Lavelle’s magic gives Gotham an NWSL championship that once seemed inevitable
The NWSL’s would-be superteam gritted out another title, as the Washington Spirit and Trinity Rodman face a bevy of questions

Hal Herschfelt was excellent throughout this final and is obviously important to what the Spirit want to do. But it's hard to do that if you can't run. Washington coaching staff needed to make the obvious call earlier; insane to me that they didn't.
November 23, 2025 at 3:09 AM
I know schedules are hard, but man it's such a bummer that LAFC-Vancouver overlaps with the NWSL Championship. You gotta give finals their own space.

Paramount, which already owns Champions League rights through CBS in US, has won the contract to broadcast it in England from 2027-31, taking it away from TNT. Will be streamed on Paramount+. Chance that they can merge US/UK output. Amazon likely keeps first pick Tuesday.

so many legendary music history sites that look like this, we don't value our culture part bazillion
OTD 1969 James Brown drags his road-weary band into King Studios in Cincinnati to record. Drummer Clyde Stubblefield bangs out a drum pattern Brown crafts into "Funky Drummer." Minor hit but it forms a foundational beat in Hip-Hop. The bldg remains vacant & standing but King left in 1971.

Sergio Busquets is old and slow. By next month he'll be retired. So how is he still so central to one of the best teams in MLS?

Wrote for The Guardian about trying to measure a famously invisible kind of greatness.
As his career ends in MLS, Sergio Busquets’ small decisions remain perfect
The Spaniard’s style of possession football is not easily defined by stats and data. We tried to do so anyway

Will never stop being funny that the USMNT brought in an expensive foreign coach with a Champions League pedigree to tell us that tactics are for dorks and we just need more MLS guys and hustle

On Tuesday, the Guardian published an investigation into allegations against Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner.

Worth a read if you haven’t already:
NEW: Ernst Tanner has built a powerhouse at the Philadelphia Union.

But my @us.theguardian.com investigation has shown wide-ranging allegations of misbehavior throughout his 7-year tenure.

Tanner denies the allegations, and was investigated by MLS this year.
