It would be nice for placing hit sparks exactly where the attacks made contact with their targets.

There should only be one if you're in Act 1, if there are two spawning for you in Act 1, let me know so I can bug fix it. Otherwise, throw a jab to check if they guard, then jump crossover and attack from behind. When the alert happens from their special meter, run far away to avoid the vortex.

(WIP) Another protagonist idea I had for a simple game concept. Single screen beat'em up (like Fairy Bloom Freesia mixed with arcade single screen platformer elements). Smaller sprite but in color.

She's a dragon demon supposed to be evil but always ends up helping people.

Yes, I tend to use colored outline on soft things like hair, fur, and occasionally skin. I also have hair on a seperate layer when animating, and the different line color helps me keep track of things when it overlaps different parts of the figure.
