Watching “Welcome to Derry,” I am reminded of how weirdly realistic—and therefore seriously scary—Stephen King’s fiction is. I mean, isn’t IT just a record of growing up in rural Maine in the last few decades of the 20th century?

Tearing up intermittently about the Epstein sex trafficking and abuse survivors — and thinking about Virginia Giuffre who tragically didn’t make it to see justice but paved the way for justice to be done for possibly hundreds of other women. Her memoir is devastating, disturbing, hard to read.

Welcome to Derry is a plausibly realistic take on growing up in a small segregated Northern Maine town, near failing factories and a fenced air force base, during the 1960s. Discuss.

The more I listen to Father Figure by TS the more I think this is her finest example of the lyrical reversals in songwriting for which she is rightly famous. It is also a strangely poignant tribute to the gothic (sexual) darkness of the original lyrics by George Michael.
