I haven't seen any of those comments, but I don't use Twitter or Facebook anymore, so that's probably why.
My guess is that a lot of such comments are bots, also. Not that there aren't bigoted Canadians, of course. Just that those apps tend to inflame hate to push a right wing agenda.

It doesn't. But the Province usually tries to work with municipalities as a courtesy. If this became a political issue provincially, they would be forcing the City's hand real quick (as they've done on housing, shelters, etc).
