In other words, we did not have democracy before, though there were some steps in the right direction. Only a real democracy, a genuine people's movement built on community power and the dismantling of capitalism, can reverse what's happened.

Why do they have these misconceptions? Because they live in a society where violence is the air we breathe, we feed it our boys from birth. Our entire economy is structured around accumulation, exploitation, and neglect.

Capitalism is not something imposed on us by some outside force. It only exists because everyday we wake up and continue to produce it. If we woke up one morning and all decided to produce something else - we would not have capitalism anymore.
