Thanks to #StormChandra our nearest river is using the road as a bed and the gauge on the bridge a few hundred meters away is registering a depth 120 cm more than the highest normal. And it’s still rising.

Storm Chandra is dumping biblical rains on my little corner of Devon. The rivers inhabit the roads and neighbours have their barge boats up. It’s not all that much fun tbh.
Storm Chandra has been named and will bring heavy rain to the UK this evening and tomorrow. But how is climate change influencing extreme events like this in the UK?

ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives.

We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.

Cops in Portland, Maine are livid at the “bush league policing” on display from ICE, already speaking out. What is a right wing coalition that doesn’t include the police?

My simplistic view from abroad is that the only thing that stands a chance of stopping what’s happening in the US is if richer liberal states break away from the union. The only thing the federal administration will understand is the loss of the GDP.

How on earth can the BBC still be relaying this demonstrably untrue information into its reporting at 942pm, without even "balancing" the false account, when they have the video footage & the analysis of it

Entries are absurdly unbalanced, to favour US govt false statements, in a scenario where "sharply contested" both sides reporting would be highly inadequate

BBC are here being a real time conduit of the misinformation that they say their mission is to verify+counter

The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.

It leads on "sharply contested narratives"

It has a dramatic skew to the US government

It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue

The BBC has never followed its own rules. ‘Due impartiality’ is paired with ‘due accuracy’, because impartiality should not override accuracy. They think too much about impartiality and not enough about accuracy.

Opinion polls 3 or 4 years away from a general election aren’t a barometer- they’re a way of *influencing* opinion.

Any broadcaster basing their coverage on such opinions polls is playing a very dishonest game- stepping out of their role of reporting, and into a promotion role.

Most people would consider £94,000 a year a very adequate salary. Not “man of the people” Farage, who spends so much time abroad earning extra cash that he barely has time do paperwork.

This is what Brits should do as well.
“Danish citizens are organising a huge boycott that includes cancelling planned holidays in the US, cancelling subscriptions to on-demand services based in the US & more generally, recommending the use of EU services instead of those provided by American platforms.”

So, same as Canadians.
