You don’t have to have purchased the book from Amazon or Goodreads - you can still leave a rating even if you purchased it elsewhere.

And this is cheeky to ask, but if you’re able to leave a 5 ⭐️ rating I would love you forever 🙈
eliasjahshan.bsky.social
I am well aware we should never involve ourselves with such an evil conglomerate as Amazon. But unfortunately it (along with Goodreads) has a chokehold on book sales and publicity. In other words: lots of ratings (esp 5 ⭐️) equates to really good word of mouth sales & getting the book to new readers

Really happy for the people of Gaza. They’re ones who matter the most in this ceasefire - and I really hope it holds. But for anyone else: remember that this is only a *bare* minimum. There is no peace without justice and accountability. We cannot afford to get complacent.

Alternatively, you can order the book directly from Saqi’s online store (link below), and they can mail it to you anywhere in the world. There is also an ebook version - also directly from Saqi’s website (handy if you have location blocks).

Yalla, get reading! I hope you enjoy ☺️

I loved working on this book, but it truly would not have been possible without the contributions of 10 talented writers. I am honoured to have worked with each one of them, and I’m so excited for all of you to read their wonderful, unique & important stories! Do give them some love on Instagram!

As I’ve said before, it doesn’t feel right to be excited about things given the Gaza genocide - esp *now* as Gaza City is being invaded & destroyed by Zio forces. It’s a privilege to celebrate this milestone and I do not take it for granted, and I also won’t let them steal our joy. Joy is resistance

Zaytoun is where Gaza’s Palestinian Christian community live, and are taking refuge in two churches

My ancestors come from Gaza. I have distant relatives there who share my surname. They won’t leave, and why should they? It’s home

Don’t you dare utter “Israel is a haven for Christians” ever again.

Massive destruction in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, the largest neighborhood in Gaza City.
‎The military operation, which lasted several weeks, left widespread devastation to homes and infrastructure, turning
‎the area into a scene of rubble and ruin.

I've just finished reading 'This Arab is Queer' an anthology by LGBTQ+ Arab Writers

edited by @eliasjahshan.bsky.social

An eye-opener for me in many ways, challenging stereotypes and my assumptions

📚🇳🇿 thoroughly recomend adding to your reading lists (I borrowed it from Dunedin Public Library)

it’s not much in the grand scheme of things but it felt satisfying giving John Boyne a one-star review on the one single book I’ve ever read from him (which I had read well before he publicly revealed his “terf” beliefs)

Kind reminders:

1—Palestinians don’t owe you a clarification or condemnation of any kind regarding their stance on the resistance. Unlearn your western exceptionalism

2—Calling it a “religions conflict” is reductive & lazy. It’s Israeli colonialism, racism, ethnic cleansing, occupation & apartheid

Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing! I’ve added it to my TBR 😍

Hey, remember when the internet and social media was abuzz when the date was 08.08.08??

Anyway, free Palestine ✌️

Also important to say that Bibi is only a symptom of Zionism, the root cause. He is a manifestation of decades of impunity & military support for a belligerent colonial entity.

I always treat people who employ mental gymnastics to circumvent this with utter contempt. It’s not hard to figure out.

Benjamin Natanyahu is—and I cannot stress this enough—a fucking war criminal. He’s a wanted man by the ICC. He’s got the blood of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians on his hands. He’s a belligerent prick who intervenes and creates chaos in neighbouring countries.

Stop making excuses for him.
