#FlowLITE is a modular, easy-to-build, bead-based assay for characterizing & quantifying absolute number of antibodies in small volumes (~10μL) of any fluid specimen. This is Justin Hahm’s Honors Thesis project (Highest Honors!). He was mentored by PhD student Alex Nazzari, the co-first author.

While #FlowLITE quantifies total antibodies, #FlowBEAT also quantifies antibody specificities to defined antigens. Both protocols can be adapted to your research needs.

For context: FlowLITE was based on our previous technology, FlowBEAT, which we developed to measure human antibody isotypes against #SARSCoV2 and autoantigens in the #nasal #mucosa of #COVID19 patients (Sci Transl Med, 2024)

Transient anti-interferon autoantibodies in the airways are associated with recovery from COVID-19
Nasal IgA1 autoantibodies against IFN-α are associated with better COVID-19 prognosis, including fewer symptoms and robust anti–SARS-CoV-2 immunity.

No more #ELISA assays?
Our new FlowLITE protocol for simultaneously quantifying all (human and mouse) #antibody isotypes in a single tube using #flowcytometry is out in STAR Protocols: star-protocols.cell.com/protocols/4572

Is it time to retire the ELISAs for #antibody measurements?

You will identify immune mechanisms underlying neuroinflammatory autoimmune diseases in children vs adults--autoimmune encephalitis (AE) and multiple sclerosis (MS). You will apply multi-omics single-cell assays to study the role of B/plasma cells and antibodies using patient samples (CSF and blood)

It was great to present our lab's work "Engineering B-cell therapies for life-long immunity" at the Annual Research Day @emorydeptofmed.bsky.social

We discussed our Gates Foundation project and how studying human early-life B cells can inform this technology. Great discussions!

We are #hiring -- To clarify, this is for a second Postdoc position for the newly funded project.
We just received new funding to study human early-life B-cell and plasma cell immunity (including mucosal immunity to respiratory viral infections).

We are seeking a new researcher with expertise in B-cell biology to join our team! Send me a message!
We are #hiring! Please help share!

Postdoc in #Immunology; B-cell biology

We are recruiting a postdoc to lead projects on human B cells and plasma cells funded by the Gates Foundation and the NIH (The position is fully funded and not dependent on future grants).
