Disney movies I grew up with and try to think about the Western influence in a movie like ‘Cars’ or ‘Toy Story' was...

Pedagogically, it is important for me not just to teach the foundational academic texts, but (especially) to guide my students to seeing how theories show up even in the subtleties of every day life...including an animated movie for kids.

I hate to say this, but my undergrad students have consistently outperformed my graduate students on their writing assignments...by far.

We are studying soft power in the China/US context, so I had my students watch Wish Dragon, and reflect on the subtleties of soft power through movies, TV, etc.
