I don’t exactly how to phrase this, but like… is autism that bad???? Like, why is it such a source of fear??? Of course there are challenges but you can be autistic and have a rich, fulfilling life! Many people do! I don’t understand the preoccupation.

The tension between how happy I am for A’ja and Nalyssa and my animus for the Aces as an organisation. #wnba

I think low key I’m annoyed because Vegas was in no way the best team this season and even through the playoffs. But there is clearly something to be said for peaking at the right time and knowing how to close games which you absolutely have to give them credit for. I’m just being churlish. 😂
nanjala.bsky.social
You’re right. Also Minnesota and even Atlanta.
nanjala.bsky.social
I believe you. I think that second game just kind of deflated my interest. Maybe I’m just tired of picking the wrong team. 😂

For clarity watching West Coast games live involves staying up late/waking up early for me. I’d stay up for a more competitive series but this seems fairly one sided.
nanjala.bsky.social
Pretty much. I stopped watching after game one. I guess that it’s the experience gap between the Aces bench and the Phoenix bench - AT and Kah can only do so much, and DB should be doing more. #wnba

What a relative disappointment the WNBA finals have been from a competitive standpoint compared to the first and second rounds. I always want the series to go the distance, to have an uncertain outcome. The Aces are playing on another level. But the Storm almost eliminated them!

Yikes!

A White Christian nationalist pastor argued recently on a right-wing podcast that the Bible--specifically Deuteronomy 21, about how a father must bring his rebellious son to the town square to be stoned--justifies state violence against Black boys and young men.

Instead of supporting women basketball players and investing in the initiatives they started on their own like AU Pro Hoops, Unrivaled and others, LeBron James and Maverick Carter have decided to start their own league. #wnba

The Maverick Carter-backed basketball league doesn't have Carter associated now but it has still raised eyebrows around the NBA.

The league plans to start with women's basketball, attract WNBA players. And then...

Fun fact: Paul Biya (92), President of Cameroon, has been the president of Cameroon almost twice as long as Monique Akoa-Makani (24) has been alive (43 years). Biya is currently running for another term in office.

She hopes her visibility will inspire the next generation of Cameroonian players to chase their own basketball dreams.

One silent victim of all of these changes in the multilateral space is people’s mindsets. Working with people who are stuck in a scarcity mindset and trying to save their jobs instead of trying to do their jobs is actually really hard.

feels like yet again time to mention that the *videogames* industry (that's a creative industry, which people do creative degrees in) brings in more than twice the amount to the British economy as the fishing and steel industries *combined*

I cannot understand what these people think the purpose of human life is?

It is *not* "pursue joy, deal justly, love well, try to understand as much and see as much of this beautiful world and of the deepness, richness and variety of human culture and experience as you can before you die"?

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.
