MA: I believe that we are Americans.
JB: True. Can you believe it? I know it.
MA: I know it. We are Black
Americans. We have our feet our souls, our hearts.
JB: We have paid for this country. That’s why I can never leave it, by the way.
MA: I know. Never.

Was really disappointed to see folks streaming into the Starbucks near South Station in Boston yesterday. Folks gotta get their fix even if the union-busting billionaires just get richer..

This is a death-denying society.

My affairs are in order.
This is my yearly PSA that, no matter how old you are, you should have a basic health directive and will. The forms are free online in California. The number of senior citizens in my neighborhood with no directives and no plan who are already a little off the rails is staggering. A short rant 1/

Good to get clarity on why I have such an irrational hatred of these things.
You aren’t stealing the book. They’re saying m that you are stealing their charity. And their charity is part of how they perform citizenship. The branded little free libraries are very much tied to white ideas of charity, thus they come with binaries about who deserves charity.

I once taught a whole lesson on the narratives of deservedness in the very strange concept of “stealing” books from something conspicuously branded as a “free” little library. The students struggled with it. A lot of internalized beliefs about poverty and worth. But I think it was a good lesson.
If you are concerned about people swiping books from your little free library and reselling those books, I ask you to go to your local used bookstore and sell a book

Okay?

Understand?

Alright, next question

Support the arts!
New York City helped my mother become the artist she is today. The next generation deserves a City Hall that lifts up tomorrow's artists as well.

1) Overall, we find that White Americans who live in counties with White American decline or Black American increase *specifically* become more violent and antidemocratic when they receive a simple prime about racial demographic change. We define this as "White fight sentiment."

Interesting: this study suggests that white support for anti-democratic policies targeting immigrants increases in places with increased Black pops but not increased Latine pops. Meaning at core what is activated in anti-democratic ideology is anti-Black racism even when the targets are not Black.

Who's pretending????
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

The BBC has been cowed.
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

Hey kids, when driving your foot does not have to always be on either the gas or the brake. When you see a red light ahead you can take your foot off the accelerator and COAST. The engine will keep running! It's magic! No need to race up to the line of cars then slam on the brakes! Try it!

They convinced y'all a first generation professor making $90k a year was a dangerous "elite" so that y'all would focus your fury that way instead of against the oligarchists (Trump first among them) raping and pillaging and laughing all the way to their private islands.

Americans are such chumps.
"At the dark heart of this story is a sex criminal and his victims — and his enmeshment with President Trump. But it is also a tale about a powerful social network in which some. . .were perhaps able to look away because they had learned to look away from so much other abuse and suffering."
