Not being American, my knowledge of him is very surface-level. But this Platner chap is reminding me of 'Mad' Mike Hoare.
This is definitely *not* a compliment.

So all I would say in response was, unfollow me if you want because I'm really not bothered, and then the Mute option was deployed.
I don't like the thought of existing in an echo chamber, but I had to try and help a good friend not to self-destruct over the weekend. So I'm really not in the mood to be lectured at by total strangers whose own opinions are based mostly in misinterpretation and their own internalised trauma.
They came. Apparently the PM is a transphobe and a facilitator of Fascism. Who'da thunk it? 🤷‍♂️
I have close family members who've been heavily involved in transgender healthcare and support for years. I'm aware of how delicate a situation exists. I've seen how dogmatic pro and anti advocacy can harm real human beings
If I've disappointed you, you can unfollow and block me if you want 🤷‍♂️
It says I'm fortunate enough to be able to look at things as they are, rather than through the lens of internalised trauma that fosters unconscious paranoia.
I've just spent my weekend caring for a friend whose paranoia resulting from trauma brought them to the brink of s*icide.
You're American, aren't you? People over here are catastrophising because of what's happened over there; even though it *isn't happening over here*. That sort of catatrophising is understandable, but it's only going to profit the actual Fascists.
No he isn't. That's paranoia speaking. I'm seeing it all over the place. People are so traumatised by the experience of the last few years that I'm not surprised.
Keir Starmer is arguably the most 'professional' PM we've had since Gordon Brown.
Is he perfect? No, because no one is. But I'd sooner have him or someone like him at the helm than any hollow, shouty demagogue the hard-right or hard-left are trying to shove on us.
Sir Keir Starmer.

Our PM.

He's hard working with proven experience of getting things done.

Hated by the hard left as he's not Corbyn.

Hated by the far right as he solve the issues they are exploiting.

Hated by the media just because he's Labour.

All lie about him.

So let's show him some love!
I'm not sure that promoting for political office a man whose attitudes may in part resemble those of 'Mad' Mike Hoare is an optimal idea 😬.
Seems to have a case of "I watched 'Platoon' and thought Tom Berenger's character was in the right".

For those who regularly tell me Labour are just Tory lite. They really aren’t. You’re being mugged off by the media who want you to believe that . I can give you multiple examples like this to prove my point. But this is worth a read esp if you’re outside London.
Agreed. For much of the media, the motive is likely greed and laziness. Real journalism is demanding work, and risks accidentally turning up the dirty secrets of the people these toadies suck up to. Far better to flood the zone with empty bullshit and psychodrama.
All of these radicals, no matter their beliefs, have a binary Us vs Them mentality that inevitably leads to Othering. When the truth is that ultimately, They are Us and we are Them; and that this will never change as long as human beings are human beings.

On the other side of the fence, the self-styled 'radicals' are doing no better. They're overrun with would-be demagogues using often performative worthiness to mask bloated, narcissistic egos oozing with ambition; in diametric opposition to their actual ability. Red Fargles, in other words.
On top of this, the culturally incestuous and thoroughly compromised right-wing media ecosystem has hated the current government ever since the exit polls dropped. The campaign of abuse, gaslighting and concern-trolling has been off the fucking charts.
IMO there's a good chance that the flow of poison is being orchestrated by bad actors; Primarily the Kremlin which has always played both ends of the table; pro-(issue) and anti-(issue) groups most likely both benefit from Russian money and influence.
So much of this stems from Brexit and its fallout; not least the taking root in the UK polity of toxic and utterly cult-like special interest groups. Each of which has at their core a sense of utter Us-vs-Them fanaticism and paranoia.
So many either can't remember, or have been made to forget, the state the UK was left in. Expecting a decade and a half of decay to be fixed in a year and a half of triage is nothing but a childish fantasy that borders on derangement in its own right.
The incipient hatred of the current PM, especially in the online space, has gone way beyond anything that could reasonably be described as rational. I swear a significant number of peoples' brains have been broken.
Read one way, you could say people want painkillers and speed...which I can still really understand.
Reposted because there are far more people who jump immediately to incorrect conclusions than are capable of deeper than surface-level readings of information.
Also, f*ck the UK media. Seriously.
Jewish fans are allowed to attend the Aston Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv game if they support Villa. The fans being banned are the Maccabi ones after the trouble in Amsterdam. The media and government are making this sound like something it's not.
Remember when Alex 'Boris' Johnson prorogued Parliament on the basis of a load of bullshit, lies and political expediency? And the govt's case was brought before our Supreme Court, who told Alex to get fucked and allow Parliament to sit again?
Seems the Yanks don't have that option re: Congress 😬.
