Well, if you’re going to be delayed you might as well be delayed in Prosser and Peachey’s magnificent 1877 train shed

Embarrassing

I think you’re correct. Hopefully that will prove to be the case.

These were replies to a post

It’s up in the air at the moment, although his position is a lot better today than it was yesterday.

I don’t disagree with you, although I don’t know the average American well enough to comment on educational standards. I will take your word for it tho, as it’s not the first time I’ve heard it.

It’s a shame. It could be so much better.
February 10, 2026 at 7:06 PM
You’ve embarrassed yourself

Get the fuck off my timeline
February 10, 2026 at 7:03 PM
What the fuck are you on about?
February 10, 2026 at 7:02 PM
I’m sure you’re fine. Keep reading. We never stop learning 👍
February 10, 2026 at 7:01 PM
Oh, don’t get me wrong. My experience of this place is overwhelmingly positive.

There have been a couple of strange episodes tho.
February 10, 2026 at 6:59 PM
This post was actually a test of how self obsessed Yanks are.

You failed.
February 10, 2026 at 6:57 PM
I am clearly British. A 30 second peruse of my posts, and indeed spelling and phraseology, would confirm that.

Your lack of comprehension and proclivity to jump to conclusions are not my problem.

Do better.
February 10, 2026 at 6:55 PM
Not in this case unfortunately. The respondents were almost exclusively left of centre anti Trump. They just totally misunderstood the context of my post. It was about British politics not American.

The type you’re referring to get an instant block.
February 10, 2026 at 6:51 PM
It’s the automatic assumption that everyone is American talking about American things that grates.

Of course, in their world that may very well be the case, but they ought to look more closely before replying.

Also, I know that there are many fine American people here too.
February 10, 2026 at 6:48 PM
It’s all been very strange!
February 10, 2026 at 6:37 PM
The post in question.

This post was quoted many times, often with a personal attack, because the respondents presumed wrongly and without investigating first, that I was American.

This post is not esoteric. It’s regarding the last two days of British politics.

They were wrong, and you are wrong.
What is this profound ignorance, and indeed confidence, held by particular people that they think there’s going to be an inevitable General Election soon?

Inevitable, my arse.

Who’s telling them this? 🇷🇺 🇨🇳 🇮🇳

There isn’t going to be a General Election.
February 10, 2026 at 6:32 PM
I know it’s easy for people to speed read and get the wrong idea, but with only 300 characters you’d think they wouldn’t rush…
February 10, 2026 at 6:20 PM
I know it isn’t, and I wish you well.
February 10, 2026 at 6:07 PM
Lost in translation
February 10, 2026 at 6:04 PM
I totally get that. The knee jerk reaction thing was very odd tho, as my post was about the last two days of British politics.

My notifications filled up with unrelated, irrelevant madness. So I muted the thread. Then I got people calling me a coward cos I muted it.

People are strange.

You don’t have to block them. BlueSky has a function where you can simply detach the quote from their post. Which I’ve done.
February 10, 2026 at 5:53 PM
I presume you’re talking about the pricks who didn’t read one of my posts properly, even presuming I’m American cos, like, the entire world is American or something, and then piling on with personal attacks and gaslighting?

Oh, you mean me? 🙄
February 10, 2026 at 5:44 PM
I shouldn’t have to give you any, but here we are. There’s about 100 in the replies >

When they are quoting me along with a personal attack, because they’ve misunderstood my post, then they go as far as even gaslighting me, that has to be countered. If there is an apology, then I accept it. If not, there will be blocking.
February 10, 2026 at 5:39 PM
If the last 24 hours are anything to go by, it appears that BlueSky has as many arseholes jumping to conclusions, missing context, and lacking comprehension as Twitter does.

Do better, America.

Kind regards,

Before anymore Americans reply to this post, understand I am not American. Most of the world isn’t. I am British, and whilst I’m aware that most of the world isn’t British either, our next General Election will be in 2029.

That’s when it will be.
