As a future healthcare provider, I will make nutrition a cornerstone of my practice. Gaining a firm understanding of it after this course, I am confident in sharing information on how my future patients can use it to prioritize their health! This is definitely a handy resource with finals coming up soon! I’m prone to stress eating and going for the sugary snacks or too much caffeine. That quick energy always leads to a crash... and then more cravings😬😫 This reminder to stay balanced is so helpful! 🥗🥕🥦 ❌ 🍪🌮🥨 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Not everything on social media is real, so I'll make sure to check for sources before taking it as a fact. To fuel up for finals, I plan on meal-prepping instead of relying on quick & unhealthy meals. One favorite: honey soy garlic sauce salmon with rice & broccoli! 🍣🥦 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I’m so excited spring is blooming and the weather’s warming up in Boston! It reminds me of my mom’s summer garden tomatoes. They're so delicious and sweet, and I love making things like tomato soup and pasta sauce from them!!🥫🍅 I can’t wait to try these recipes too! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This article from the American Academy of Pediatrics, highlights the value of a healthy breakfast. As a future healthcare worker, I will advocate for nutritious starts to the day, especially for kids. It’s a quick and helpful read! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353 www.healthychildren.org/English/heal...

This ties into Tom Carroll's story and how the Chick-fil-A salad led his weight loss journey. We often label "fast food" as bad, but his experience shows that with mindfulness & good intention, it can support health. I agree, nutrition certainly isn’t black and white!! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Too much of anything can be bad for you—that’s exactly what too much means...yet we constantly slide from "too much of something is a problem" right into "any of that is toxic!"
Many things that are risky in excess are essential or safe in moderation.
Nutrition isn’t black+white - neither is eating.

Tom’s story moved me, especially the nurse interaction: it was pivotal in his health journey. Her attitude may have discouraged him from seeking care. It reminds me to lead with empathy & respect every patient’s path. I hope Tom is doing well, his story is so inspiring!💪🥗 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

On the topic of obesity this week, it's important to understand that body types aren't trends. Weight is influenced by many factors beyond our control like genetics, environment, socioeconomic, etc. Effort towards being healthy matters, but not with unrealistic standards! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
I’ve seen a lot of commentary about “super skinny coming back into fashion”.

It’s 2025 - can we please accept that bodies aren’t infinitely changeable, we can’t reconstruct them on a trend… it’s not fashion or a trend; it’s just bias.

What stuck with me, was seeing obesity from the lens of someone constantly reminded of their insecurity... through fat-shaming, which fuels overeating. The issue lies in the misconception between accepting obesity vs. shaming obese individuals, often masked as tough love #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

It was interesting reading this, which ties into what I've learned in my anatomy class recently. It's amazing how our organs adjust to varying concentrations in our body, but it's vital to be mindful of the long-term effects that can contribute to kidney disease! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

A barrier that resonates with me is emotional responses like stress, which increase appetite for unhealthy foods. I noticed this after break... I was relaxed and had no cravings for unhealthy foods, but once I returned to school the stress triggered the cravings again!🍪🍿 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Wow...an average weight loss of nearly 8 pounds is quite extraordinary, and the health benefits such a transition offers are also very admirable! It is definitely hard to cut these options out when they are so tasty and easy, but more favorable for us in the long run! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

In my Health Law and Policy course I recently learned that the FDA does not regulate dietary supplements for effectiveness, but rather treats them like food! This means there is no guarantee that vitamins, minerals, herbs, and amino acids are effective or entirely safe!🤷‍♀️💊 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

It is so fascinating how many diets exist for health and wellness. However, moderation is crucial and I believe sometimes we follow certain diets unknowingly. A grain-free diet is interesting, but grain also offers many benefits and ultimately I think balance is key⚖️ #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

The keto diet caught my eye since a relative had a transformational weight loss journey on it. He followed a high-fat, low-carb diet (making the body burn fat instead of sugar), made life style changes🏋️ and did the diet for a short time, making results very impressive!!💪 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Coffee and I have a love-hate relationship, but I try to fit it into my routine wisely. I avoid drinking it on an empty stomach in the morning and too late in the day. Some days its my best friend, while other days I feel too dehydrated or dependent on it! ☕️ #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I wasn't always conscious of nutritional density, but I have unknowingly made small, smart swaps. I will admit, I often overlook nutrition labels and am not the most particular about considering my sodium or calorie intake. However, it is something I want to be more aware of moving forward and to be more mindful of food that will promote my heart health 🫀

The 24-hour recall wasn't too surprising since I'm fairly aware of my eating habits. I ate a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, crab rangoons as a snack, and tacos for dinner. While foods I eat differ daily, I'm consistent about eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. #beh353
