i joined the Austin Photo Walkers for a stroll around downtown. it's a social meetup and free exploration, rather than an organized tour. this group has a nice focus on documenting the city and its changes, and there was plenty to see on alleys and side streets.

on the way back from breakfast i saw an abandoned house had just burned down, so i zipped home to pick up my camera and come back
the wall of a burned-out house under a cloudy sky. two brick walls still stand on the left and right with the edge of the roof intact between them, while in the center a wood-framed wall only has the vertical studs and beams left. inside are piles of smoldering debris with sunlight cutting in at an angle. in the background are power line towers extending behind the beams.

6th Street Saturday night

downtown Austin was poppin' on a warm November night. just right to test out the 70-200/1.8 going one way, and get nifty with the 50/1.8 on the way back. #photography

a fantastic game, and personally significant: the DH2 event in San Francisco was my (re)entry into the video game industry. i had some insightful conversations with Pete Hines and producer Will N. that were encouraging to jump into a different kind of software.

i picked almost twice as many as the first wave. more are coming, too, as they ripen unevenly on the tree; sometimes a soft one will sit next to a firm one on the same branch.

this time i'm going to try freezing the pulp to reduce the astringency. then, more jam!
