I follow anyone who seems like they're smarter than me. That's probably most of you. Big proponent of knowing what you don't know. "Fake it 'til you make it" culture has gone too far. You can't fake expertise! All of this was a terrible mistake.

The EU was able to force Microsoft to support open file standards, so there is precedent for that sort of thing. There's a renewed push toward FOSS & open standards because the world no longer trusts U.S. corporations.

It's just the beginning. For now, staying on the less-bad platforms is the better option because that's where the people are.
The EC is already operating their own Mastodon instances, they just need to mandate use of open protocols so people can easily migrate.
