If this is so, Schumer should resign immediately, along with any other member of Dem senate leadership.

How is it possible such a proviso slipped by Dem staffers (not to mention senators)? God Lord, Dem senators aren't just political cowards, they're incompetents on top of it all.

1) Marshall, who's as good as anyone in the game, sees this as a diagnostic the way a major league team analyzes its problems, and then decides who has to go and who stays.

He's correct, as far as that goes. This is the sort of vote

1) I'm bewildered. Where's the political gain in allowing cloture? Someone explain it to me as if I were three. I understand Fetterman. He's not in his right mind, so anything's possible. He's a bad West Side Story character, neither Jet nor Shark, so he's trying to get by as a dentured

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

1) To be clear, this signifies something many of us have suspected for years. If the party can't hold the line when it holds all the cards, it won't hold it, either, when things get rougher. Should this deal go down, it'll be a contemptible, disgusting surrender.

1) I do NOT follow people who restrict replies. I'm sure people have their reasons. Mine is: "fine. I'll quote reply"....which, of course, I did, and then you just did, instead of replying directly to me. I'm sure you think this is giving me a dose of my own medicine, while I'm equally

Breaking news per Jeff Passan: “Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted by prosecutors in Brooklyn on a host of charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in MLB games. Ortiz was arrested in Boston earlier today. Clase is not currently in custody”

1) I would have replied, but Pagliuca has restricted replies.

This is even a worse look.

If one doesn't want others to judge one's work, don't submit it for public consumption. That's always been the deal. I'm not cavalier about public response. I owned a publishing

Just extraordinary.

Makes one wonder if the government has put itself in peril by using funds it shouldn't have, and now finds itself in a liquidity crunch it doesn't want to rectify by printing more money (which would be public, and highly visible)

Those officials are there because they understand their own plans put them in peril.
“More and more cabinet members — Rubio, Miller, Noem — live on military bases now, & it's another parallel to Iraq, where the administration lived in the Green Zone. There’s something deeply unhealthy about a society where leaders are literally shut off from the communities that they govern.”

Down is up and up is down. Bill Kristol is turning into a Social Democrat. The Grand Old Party has morphed into The Know Nothings, and Democrats are doing a fair-to-middling approximation of Rockefeller Republicans.

It just struck me this isn't about policy at all. It's just a guy who thinks it all belongs to him, he's the only one who gets to use it, and he doesn't want to share it with anyone. It's all of a piece with a guy who stiffs his vendors.
I’ve never seen an American elected official fight so hard to starve people.

Bizarrely, this is about feeding American citizens. What's next? A "Feed The Children" charity movement within Ukraine to feed starving American babies?

I don't buy any of the semantic arguments. Dunn's another example of jury nullification. This Trump DofJ is seriously despised.

I've seen this go by a few times on TikTok now and I have to say, I love this idea. We need a way to convince people to keep running even if they don't win, maybe building the loss into it as a troll move is the secret.

I've no clue what's going on. My knowledge of Texas politics extends to Gov. Abbott doing oily, despicable things from his wheelchair while AG Paxton breaks the law in new and interesting ways every day. Anything more than that, and I'm merely another ashen faced gob muttering..."they did what?"
WOAH. Texas GOP Executive Director Jen Hall and another top party official just resigned. In her letter to party Chair Abraham George, Hall said she "cannot in good conscience continue to work this way" but doesn't elaborate. Hall and George are both longtime Tim Dunn allies. This is...interesting.

No NYer worth anything is going to flee without selling their apt. Should they actually do that, state law requires they pay taxes here regardless of where they may move to.

1) Big, but not surprising. As @pgourevitch.bsky.social writes in the thread below, Satmars have been steadfastly anti-zionist., which, in itself, isn't that extraordinary. A surprising number of ultra religious Jews aren't zionists because of religious reasons.
