What unites dominant parties, whether they are on the left or the right, is 'do they have a commitment to values or to methods' - part of the Conservative unravelling over the last half-decade is starting to confuse methods with values.

you can get mad about this, but this is the truth. this is a politician leveling with you like an adult
ICE must be reined in, and unfortunately, neither a CR nor a shutdown would do anything to restrain it, because, thanks to Republicans, ICE is now sitting on a massive slush fund it can tap whether or not we pass a funding bill.

I think we’ve got better and more culturally-varied street food than I could have imagined, cool jackets galore, and drugs that make us think we’re really fast and strong before they kill us.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

Most of the Democrats - and Warren in particular - who are saying "ICE needs to be reformed" are saying it in much the same way Reagan said "Welfare needs to be reformed": in both cases the intention is to burn it to the ground and salt the ashes under the most "normal" sounding initiative.

I mean clearly Schumer should be pushing Trump hard during PMQ and consider a vote of no-confidence, along with the more minor parties in the opposition
The "opposition party" shit drives me up a wall, learn one (1) thing about our system if you are going to comment on it, this is insane.

This article on the Bills firing McDermott sounds entirely melodramatic

If arguing with commenters on social media was actually praxis to the degree this idiot is claiming, then Will Stancil would sleep every night on top of a bed made of the skulls of his enemies.

People need to understand that they are not on a battlefield. They are not fighting the Nazis. They are playing the word version of Call of Duty with the Nazis. It is entertainment for both parties

One thing that’s mildly surprised me is that China hasn’t been doing it (competently)

Seems like it’d be useful for them?
Part of why I’m so convinced Europe will be totally overmatched by anything trump does re: greenland is that “you should try to make republicans lose” has been incredibly obvious guidance to Europe for a decade and there’s no evidence they’ve figured it out yet
look there's a simple solution: Europe and Canada must engage in sustained influence ops in the United States to promote the Democratic Party
