“Records give you more of what you want!”

An entire Columbia Records inner sleeve dedicated to convincing you that vinyl is the ultimate format: better sound, prettier covers, more fun to store, and even a great gift.

“And remember… it always happens first on records.”

They weren’t wrong. #Vinyl

Hey Beautiful People

Tonight, @forwardprizes.bsky.social takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Mum Does The Washing is up for Best Single Poem Performed. Whatever happens, I'm so proud of it, and so humbled and frankly gassed at how far it's flown.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Blimey!
Including the superb first-time-on-vinyl 2021 reissue of Scritti Politti's 1999 masterpiece, Anomie & Bonhomie, on double vinyl. Worth it for the luxurious packaging alone. A snip at £16.95!
@paulwonvinyl.bsky.social @richcontent.bsky.social It’s more uneven than I remember but no doubting the thrill of those singles back in the day.
So tough.

5pts. A Walk Across The Rooftops - The Blue Nile
4. The Lexicon of Love - ABC
3. Songs To Remember- Scritti Politti
2. Swoon - Prefab Sprout

I don’t blame you. Her fans showed her such generosity and grace the first time she started this rubbish. Such a shame she ‘did a Glinner’ and let it fester. Enough.

Good lord, an AI-generated screed packed with every GC talking point and some WILD narcissism. Poor Róisín Murphy still hasn't learned that it’s this queer “mob” that’s been supporting her shimmy-shimmy hoola-balooba schtick all these years.

And she is FIFTY-TWO years old. WILD stuff.
Looks like someone’s career has gone to shit, since going GC… 🤷🏾‍♀️
Hugely entertaining stuff from the NOW series. This 1976 Yearbook Extra is every bit as fascinating as its older sibling.

And it has Disco Duck. 🪩 🦆

I was lucky enough to interview Dave Ball at a book festival not so long ago. He was very nervous but when you got him onto music, amazing. I told him I had listened to Soft Cell every day on the way to school, radio pressed to my ear. He said, “Did it help?” More than you knew, Dave. RIP

Back in that London now. Had a great few weeks in Chicago : lots and lots of signs of resistance there. I think it’s a sleepy place (compared to London) but they are energised about Trump. Good to see!

It's just astonishing what people are doing with AI tools. This '70s cover' of the latest Taylor Swift track sounds like a lost Supremes classic. This isn't the work of someone just typing in a prompt; there's someone with musical and technical nous behind this.
