Definitely more bad for the author (and not close)! I was totally OK, just felt terrible about it.

Sorry you had to deal with that too. There are so many times in my life (at previous jobs) that I had to issue the whole payment because it was already accepted (or even in print!) by signing time

I always say the best part of AMP is that it takes two. weeks. tops. for payments to be made

once I had an author chew me out at a diff house for a payment that was still unpaid 6 months later and I felt so bad but I approved it 6 months before, it was just in the queue :(

I obviously know a bit from on-the-job work, but my degree is Writing, Literature & Publishing (aka a glorified English major, but with Indesign lessons!!).

Anyway, very much interested in business/ops to expand the stuff I know and apply it to helping authors & creators

Asking the hivemind: Has anyone taken online business degree courses or certifications? Any tips/recs?

I'm thinking about what will be most beneficial for me in January & if there's a possibility of a 10 or 15 hour a week course, I'd like to explore it.

This is my first layoff, but I've seen a lot of friends laid off (at other companies) through the years. To my knowledge, AMP was open & honest with me

I also think having until 12/31 to wrap things up speaks very highly of the company. Most of corporate America wouldn't do that, sadly /c

Andrews McMeel has given me an abundance of opportunities in the past 4+ years, and I am not the same person I was before I started because of it. /c

For myself, I'm just looking for a new role tbh. Andrews McMeel gave me a ton of opportunities and mentorship that I am very grateful for. In no way am I try to making this anything other than positive for the team. /c
